VERIFICATION OF EQUIPMENT USED AS LIFTING DEVICES

The following are subject to these checks in accordance with the Order of 1 March 2004 relating to checks on lifting equipment and accessories:

-         products intended for lifting, whether they are PPE or not,

-         products intended for lifting masses or persons.

1/ CHECKS WHEN COMMISSIONING:

For the devices and their supports, whose suitability for use has been checked in their configurations of use (our winches, tripods, jib crane, and their supports ...):

·        Suitability test,

·        Assembly and installation test,

·        Operating test.

For the accessories, whose suitability for use has been checked in their configurations of use (our seats, …):

      Suitability test.

2/ GENERAL PERIODIC CHECK:

For the devices and their supports, whose suitability for use has been checked in their configurations of use (our winches, tripods, jib crane, and their supports ...):

Every 6 monthsfor:

- Lifting devices that do not require the installation of a special support;

- Lifting devices, not specially designed for lifting persons, moved by directly applied human power;

- Lifting devices moved by energy other than directly applied human power.

      Inspection of the state of preservation,

      Operating test.

For the accessories, whose suitability for use has been checked in their configurations of use (our seats, …):

They should be checked every 12 months

      Inspection of the state of preservation.

3/ CHECKS WHEN RETURNING TO SERVICE:

By definition, a return to service applies when:

  • Changing the site of use;
  • Changing the configuration or the conditions of use, on the same site;
  • Following a disassembly followed by a reassembly of the lifting device;
  • After any replacement, repair or major transformation involving the essential components of the lifting device;
  • After any accident caused by the failure of an essential component of the equipment.

For the devices and their supports, whose suitability for use has been checked in their configurations of use (our winches, tripods, jib crane, and their supports ...):

  • Suitability test,
  • Assembly and installation test,
  • Operating test,
  • Inspection of the state of preservation,
  • Static test,
  • Dynamic test.

Ø EXCEPTION:Whenchanging only the site of use, without installation of any particular support, only the pre-installation check and a periodic check for less than 6 months are necessary.

      Suitability test,

      Inspection of the state of preservation,

      Static test.

4/RECORDING OF EXAMINATIONS AND TESTS:

A draft report drawn up by the qualified persons responsible for the checks must be communicated to the head of establishment. The results of the checks must be recorded in the safety logbook.

All these verifications (commissioning, periodic check, return to service) may be carried out by a qualified person belonging or not belonging to the company, with competence in the field of risk prevention, both from a technical and regulatory point of view. They may also be trained by the manufacturer of the lifting equipment to acquire these skills. The company may also call upon an accredited inspection body for these examinations.
